Mrs. Malamutt
I was born and raised in New York. I attended college at a small school on Long Island, where I earned my bachelors degree in psychology and my masters degree in elementary education. I married my husband Eric in 2006 and we moved to North Carolina in 2008 when I graduated from my Masters program!
My husband and I have an 8 year old son named Nate and a 4 year old daughter named Laina. You will hear plenty about them throughout the year as they inspire me daily. Our family is a Disney/Harry Potter LOVING family. One of our favorite things to do together as a family is take trips to Orlando to visit Disney and watch movies together (Harry Potter movies are our FAVORITES!!!). We have a dog Casey who is 13 years old, he is an adorable little Papillon. We also have a grumpy 15 year old orange, black, and white cat named Foxy (she has big ears like a fox)!
I started my teaching career in New York as a substitute teacher in the Plainedge School District where I also did my student teaching! When I moved to North Carolina I immediately started teaching at Hunter GT/AG basics Elementary in Raleigh. I started there as a math elective teacher for all grade levels and a 4th grade math coach. The following school year I took a position as a 2nd grade teacher. I taught at Hunter for almost 5 years before moving to Carpenter Elementary to be a 3rd grade teacher! I spent 4 years teaching 3rd grade at Carpenter and 1 year in 2nd grade! In 2017 I joined the OCE family as a 3rd grade teacher and have LOVED it here ever since!
